New How to Setup Touch ID on iPhone 6 Plus Running iOS 7 By Patricbensen

Apple was the first one to integrate fingerprint scanning technology to unlock its devices and authorize transactions and purchases from the iTunes store, App store and iBooks store. We've seen other devices having this feature but they are more of a niche feature than anything else.

You may have seen some iPhone 6 Plus versus Galaxy S5 memes online. Well, many of them speaks the truth about which device has a better fingerprint scanner.

Below is a simple procedure on how to setup your Touch ID on your iPhone 6 Plus that is running iOS 7.

  1. Tap the Settings icon.
  2. Find and tap Touch ID & Passcode.
  3. Touch Add a fingerprint.
  4. Read the basic information about Touch ID.
  5. Repeatedly lift and place your finger on the Home button until the fingerprint on the screen turns red.
  6. Read the information and touch the Home button to continue.
  7. Again, lift and place your finger on the Home button repeatedly until the fingerprint turns red.
  8. Touch Continue.
  9. Now, nominate a four-digit passcode that you will use in case Touch ID fails to unlock your iPhone 6 Plus.
  10. Re-enter your passcode to confirm.
  11. Your Touch ID has been set.

You may now try to lock and unlock your iPhone using your fingerprint. Also, if you want, you can add another fingerprint and follow the same procedure.

New Two Simple Ways To Turn Off Samsung Galaxy S4 Auto Correct Feature By Patricbensen

I've read a lot of complaints from Samsung Galaxy S4 owners caused by the auto correct feature. This feature can be both helpful and annoying depending on the person that uses it. Good thing Samsung made its settings accessible to the users because they can just flip the switch to turn it off and on anytime.

I, myself, don't use auto correct in any of my phones because it already happened to me several times that my messages contained words that aren't supposed to be included. I am sure this feature will be improved in the future but now, it would be better if it's turned off than on.

There are two ways to disable this feature:

Turn Off Auto Correct Feature Via Settings Menu

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  2. Launch Settings.
  3. Tap My device tab.
  4. Scroll to and touch Language and input.
  5. Touch the Settings icon next to Samsung keyboard.
  6. Toggle the switch next to Auto replacement to turn it Off. (This will prevent the phone from automatically replacing your words.)
  7. Toggle the switch next to Predictive text to turn it Off if you don't want the phone to suggest words.

Turn Off Auto Correct Feature In Messaging App

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Messaging app icon to open it.
  2. Tap the New message icon.
  3. Tap the text field to pull up the keyboard.
  4. Touch and hold the Settings icon on the keyboard beside space bar.
  5. Now, you have the option to turn off both Auto replacement and Predictive text.

I hope you've learned a thing or two in this post. Feel free to leave a comment.

New How To Fix Samsung Galaxy S3 Problems Connecting To PC / Computer By Patricbensen

Majority of electronic devices that are capable of holding data are plug-and-play and use generic USB drivers. Big companies like Samsung don't use generic drivers so if you own a Galaxy S3 or any Samsung device, you will need to download and install the drivers on your computer if you haven't done so already.

If drivers aren't properly installed on your computer, it can be able to detect a device has been plugged in but it can't recognize it. Thus, data can't be transferred to and fro, although, you can still use your computer as a fancy charger.

Where can I download the drivers?

Samsung made sure users can easily find the official drivers for their devices. You need to log on to the company's website to find them and you have two options; you can either download the drivers or Samsung Kies that also comes packed with all necessary drivers.

Downloading Drivers

Please follow this very simple procedure I outlined for you to download necessary drivers for your device:
  1. Know the model of your device first. Remove the battery and look at the sticker at the back of the phone and look for "model" and take note of it.
  2. Log on to http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads.
  3. Enter the model of your device in the filed provided in that page.
  4. Choose  your device from the list of options.
  5. Now click the icon labeled "USB (EN)".
  6. A pop up will appear, click Continue.
  7. Depending on the browser you use, click "Save" or "Save file".
  8. After it has been downloaded, run the program to install the drivers.
  9. Viola! Your phone can now be recognized by your computer.

Downloading Samsung Kies

With Kies, you can update your phone, manage your data, backup your device, and transfer multimedia files. It also brings along necessary drivers for your phone so if  you have it in your computer already, you don't need to manually install device-specific drivers.
  1. Know the version of Android your phone is running.
  2. Log on to http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/.
  3. Scroll to Download section.
  4. If your phone has Android 4.3 or later, click Kies 3. For Android 4.2 and lower, Kies 2.6 will do.
  5. Depending on the browser you use, click "Save" or "Save file".
  6. After it has been downloaded, run the executable file to install Kies on your computer together with drivers.
  7. Your computer can now recognize your phone plus you can enjoy all cool features the program offers.
For issues related to the communication between your phone and your computer, installing correct drivers or Kies can easily fix them. We hope this post can somehow help you. If you got questions, leave a comment below.

New Samsung Galaxy S5 shows PIN or PUK code error prompt [How to Fix] By Patricbensen

Here's what you need to do if your Galaxy S5 is prompting you for a PIN or PUK code error, unable to unlock SIM (PIN or PUK) or receive any of the following errors on your mobile device:
  • error prompt: PIN code blocked.
  • error prompt: Enter PUK code.
  • error prompt: SIM card locked.
  • error prompt: SIM card damaged.

Please note that the aforesaid error prompts are more likely due to incorrect code entry or an incorrect code is entered several times already.

Following are manufacturer-recommended workarounds when you encounter any of the aforementioned errors prior to contacting your phone carrier or service provider:

1. Check you device and make sure it has no physical or liquid damage.

2. Try to power off the device completely and then remove the SIM card.

3. Re-insert the SIM card and make sure it is properly installed and is not damaged. If you notice any damage to the SIM card, please contact you phone carrier or service provider to escalate the issue and for replacement options.

4. Power on the device.

5. Enter the SIM PIN code to unlock it.

If you are not sure or don't remember your default PIN code, or the phone is asking a PUK code, then try to disable the SIM PIN or change the SIM PIN code. Here's how:

1. Tap Menu from the Home screen.
2. Select Settings.
3. Tap More.
4. Select Security.
5. Tap on the option to Set up SIM card lock.
6. Tap on Change SIM PIN to change the SIM card PIN or remove the check mark from the box next to Lock SIM card.

Note: To remove or change the SIM card PIN, you will be required to enter your SIM PIN. If you don't have this information, then contact your service provider from a different device for further assistance and recommendations.

Generally, SIM PIN code is used to protect the SIM card from being used in other devices. When you enable the SIM PIN lock in your device, you will be asked to enter the code after you power it on.

A PUK code will be required after entering incorrect SIM PIN code for several times. After multiple failed attempts, the SIM card will be locked and will need to be replaced.

New Samsung Galaxy S3 Audio/Speaker/Microphone Issues [Troubleshooting guide] By Patricbensen

Here's another troubleshooting guide we offer for users of Samsung Galaxy S3 who are having audio issues with their device. To our readers who have relayed similar problem to us via email, including those who have troubles hearing a caller (vice versa), you too can refer to this guide and try the workarounds and resolution procedures we provide in this page.

You can skip to the method that you haven't yet tried on if you want.

Please don't forget to test your device after performing each resolution procedure to see if the problem is already fixed, otherwise continue to the next method.

1. Check your coverage area and ensure you are within your network's coverage.

You can navigate to your carrier's website to access the coverage locator page or contact support for further assistance.

2. Check the speakerphone and ensure it's properly working.

Please note thought that the speakerphone is only available while you are on a call. This means when the call is ended, the speakerphone is also disabled. To enable/disable the speakerphone, select Speaker located in the lower left of the screen while on a call. You will know if it's enabled when it appears green.

3. Verify audio settings are correct.

If you're not getting notifications, ringing, or vibrating when receiving calls, texts or emails, then try to adjust the volume controls. You can adjust the volume by pressing the Home button up or down. This button is located on the left corner. Follow these steps if you're unsure how it's done:

a. Tap Apps from the Home screen.
b. Tap Settings from the Apps tab.
c. Tap Sound from the Device section.
d. Tap Volume.
e. Adjust the volume for any of the given options including music, video, games & other media, ringtone, notifications and system.
f. Tap OK when done.

If you cannot adjust the volume, make sure the Turn Off All Sounds settings is disabled or turned off.

4. Verify Bluetooth settings and ensure it's OFF or disabled.

Follow these steps to disable Bluetooth function on the GS3 smartphone:

a. Tap Apps from the Home screen.
b. Tap Settings from the Apps tab.
c. Go to Wireless & Networks section, then tap the Bluetooth switch to turn it OFF or disabled.

5. Check for any available software update for your device.

You may need to update your device software version to get this issue fixed. Generally, updates are rolled out to fix any issue existing on a device. In fact, Samsung has already rolled out a firmware update to fix the speakerphone bug.

Follow these steps to check for a software update on your GS 3 device:

a. Tap Apps from the Home screen.
b. Tap Settings from the Apps tab.
c. Tap Software update from the System section.
d. Select Check for new software update.

6. Use Safe Mode to check your device.

Putting your device in safe mode or in diagnostic state can help you determine if a third-party app is causing an issue. Here's how to activate Safe mode in the Galaxy S3:

a. Press and hold the Power button (with the device still on) until the Phone options appear.
b. Select and hold Power off until you will be prompted with the Restart in Safe mode option, then release.
c. Tap Turn on Safe Mode.
d. Wait for the phone to restart and boot up in Safe mode. It could take up to 45 seconds to finish. Upon restart, you should see Safe Mode in the lower left of the unlock/home screen.

While in safe mode, you can test your device and app functionality. Try to make a call and see if the problem is gone. If so, then the problem has been isolated to third-party apps that need to be uninstalled or removed. Otherwise, it's a device issue.

After using Safe mode, reboot or restart your phone to exit or disable safe mode and get back to Normal mode.

7. Perform a soft reset.

A soft reset has been commonly used to resolve several device issues including apps-related and performance issues. To perform a soft reset on your Galaxy S3, press and hold the Power button, select Restart, then tap OK. Alternately, you can perform a soft reset by simply removing the battery and re-insert it after a few seconds, and power on the device.

User-defined solutions

Some GS 3 users fixed this problem by verifying some phone settings. Here's how they did it.

Method 1:

a. Go to Settings.
b. Select Accessibility.
c. Remove the check from the box next to Turn off all sounds.
d. Go back to Settings.
e. Select Sound and make sure your volume levels are correct and sound is enabled or turned on.

Method 2:

a. Tap Phone.
b. Select Menu.
c. Tap Call Settings.
d. Select Additional Settings.
e. Remove the check on Noise reduction option to disable the feature. Doing so will help lessen echo and get clearer calls.

If problem persists after performing all the aforesaid resolution procedures and workarounds, please contact your device carrier to escalate the problem or take your phone to a nearby service center for checkup. It is possible that the microphone is faulty and needs to be repaired or replaced.

Or, you can try to take a look at the microphone hole on the bottom edge of the phone. If you see something is stuck in there, then that could be the problem. You can clean it carefully or try to compressed air to blow it out.

Hope this helps.

New Samsung Galaxy S3 Messaging Issues: Can't Send/Receive Picture/Video Messages [Troubleshooting] By Patricbensen

This article is purposely created in respond to our readers who have relayed to us a problem with their Samsung Galaxy S3, which is associated with messaging. If you too have encountered the same problem with your device, then you can also refer to this guide and give any of these given solutions/workarounds a try.

There are several factors you need to consider if you happen to have trouble sending messages like image or video message. Among the most common causes include data blocks on the account, messaging blocks, out of network coverage area, and incorrect data usage settings.

Let's try to check every possibility so we can isolate the problem and determine the right solution we aimed to obtain.

Please don't forget to test your device after performing each of these steps to see if the problem is already fixed. Otherwise, proceed to the next method when necessary.

1. Verify your account for possible data blocks. This is applicable only to Postpaid accounts.

If you can't receive messages or download apps, then it's a good start to check your account status and verify for data or service blocks. You can verify it online through your carrier's official website, or just call customer support to assist you further with account status verification.

For example, Verizon subscribers who are having the same problem while attempting to send/receive a message can go to Verizon website and log in to their accounts. Data blocks information can be found under My Verizon -> My Plans & Services -> and then Manage Verizon Family Safeguards & Controls. In this section, you can View Details & Edit option located on the right under Block Services. Just search for and choose the block(s) you want to check and then click Continue to proceed.

Generally, the only the account holder can make changes to the account settings.

2. Verify messaging blocks.

Another possible reason as to why you can't send or receive a message on your device is the temporary messaging block feature enabled in your account.

Perhaps, you have previously activated a temporary block to stop unwanted calls and messages and that number is included in the list. So, try to check. If the number is there, then you can just remove it from the list by logging in to your account online through your carrier's website. Otherwise, please contact customer support for further assistance on updating call & message blocks.

3. Make sure you are within your network carrier's coverage area.

Sometimes, you would not be able to send or receive a message when you're out of your network coverage.

4. Verify iMessage and make sure it is unregistered.

Among the common indications that you may need to deregister iMessage include unable to receive SMS on your non-Apps device when the sender is using an iPhone, unable to send SMS to non-Apple device because they are being sent as an iMessage, which is not supported by the receiving device.

If you have encountered any of the aforementioned symptoms, then  it's likely that your phone number might still be registered with iMessage. This means you need to deregister iMessage.

Follow these steps to deregister or turn off iMessage on your device.

a. If you still have your iPhone, transfer your SIM card to your iPhone, then go to Settings. Next, tap on Message, then turn iMessage OFF.

b. If you no longer have your iPhone, then you need to log in to Apple website to deregister iMessage with your phone number. You will have to enter the phone number you want to deregister from iMessage and then a confirmation code will be issued. You will use that 6-digit code to confirm deregistration.

5. Verify Airplane mode and ensure it's OFF or disabled.

Your device won't be able to send or receive phone calls or use any data service while the Airplane mode or Standalone mode is enabled or activated.

To check if Airplane mode is disabled on your S3 device, follow these steps:

a. Press and hold the Power button with the device powered on.

b. Select Airplane mode. If it's on you'll see the radio button is ON, otherwise is OFF. Be sure it's OFF.

c. Select OK when done checking/editing settings.

6. Ensure data is turned on or enabled.

Follow these steps to turn on/enable data on your Galaxy S3:

a. Tap Apps from the Home screen.
b. Select Settings from the Apps tab.
c. Select More settings from the Wireless and network section.
d. Tap on Mobile Networks.
e. Select Mobile data. You will know if it's enabled if the check mark is present.
f. Ensure it is checked then select OK.

7. Verify data usage settings.

If you've already reached the specified data usage level on your device, it's possible that you may no longer be able to send/receive messages because the mobile data or cellular data will also be disabled on your device. Usually, you will be prompted with a notification message upon reaching the specified data usage level but if you don't get one, follow these steps to check:

a. Tap Apps from the Home screen.
b. Select Settings from the Apps tab.
c. Select Data usage under Wireless and network section.
d. View data usage information.

Please contact your carrier to verify terms of data usage and resetting mobile data limit for your account.

8. Perform a soft reset.

Oftentimes, a soft reset helps solve a device problem including temporary messaging issues, so if you haven't done this yet, then you might give it a try this time.

The process is just similar when you turn the device off and then back on, like restarting a desktop computer. For those who need help, here's how:

a. Press and hold the Power button until the Device options prompt.
b. Select Restart.
c. Select OK.

Alternately, you can perform a soft reset  by removing the battery for 30 seconds, then re-insert the battery after the time has elapsed, and power on the device.

9. Verify the phone number you are dialing/entering is the correct number

This thing is often overlooked so make sure you're not missing this.

Be sure to enter the correct 10-digit mobile number or email address when sending a text/picture message. Carefully check the spelling, and use of special characters (for emails) and area codes (for phone numbers).

10. Check the file size of the message.

Sometimes, you will not be able to send or receive a message if that size of the message has exceeded the maximum file size for photo or video messages for your device.

// For SMS/MMS

The maximum file size you can send/receive for basic devices (1x capable) is 350 KB (kilobytes), 500 KB (kilobytes) for basic devices (Rev O EVDO) and 1,200 KB for basic devices/smartphones/tablets that are 3G or 4G LTE capable. Lowering the camera resolution can help reduce the image file size.

// For emails

The maximum file size that can be sent from an email to a device is 3MB.

11. Check your device available memory.

If the phone memory gets full, any unused items like apps, pictures, videos or music files may be removed from the phone. Clearing RAM or random access memory can also help resolve memory issues with the device.

Follow these steps to check the Available memory space on your Galaxy S3:

a. Tap Apps from the Home screen.
b. Tap Settings from the Apps tab.
c. Select Storage from the Device section.
d. View Available space from the Total space section.

12. Check for any available software update for your device.

Software updates are often rolled to fix any existing issues on the device, so you can give this a try. You can check out Samsung website and view any software update available for your device model. Otherwise, check for available system update on your device with these steps:

a. Tap Apps from the Home screen.
b. Select Settings from the Apps tab.
c. Select Software update from the System section.
d. Tap on Check for new software update.

13. Diagnose in Safe Mode

You can also try to check the device in safe mode or put it in a diagnostic state to return to default settings, and determine if a third-party app is causing an issue.

To run the phone in Safe mode, press and hold the Power button with the device powered on. Keep pressing and holding the Power button until the Phone options show. Select and hold Power off until the Restart in Safe Mode prompt shows, then release. Tap on Turn on Safe Mode and wait for the phone to restart in Safe mode. It may take up to 45 seconds to restart. Upon restart, you will see Safe mode shown in the lower left of the unlock/home screen.

You can now start testing the device and app functionality with safe mode. If the issue fails to occur, then the cause is isolated to an app that needs to be uninstalled or removed. Power cycle or restart the device to exit Safe Mode and then re-install app and test one at a time to identify which app is the culprit.

If all the aforesaid workarounds and resolution methods have failed to resolve the problem, then you may consider performing a hard reset this time.

This should be your last option given the factd that doing a factory data or hard reset removes or erase all personal information stored on the device. Although it has been known to fix several device issues including hardware-related and app-related problems.

Before you start performing a hard reset, be sure to back up all your important files so you can just retrieve them later. Personal data like Wi-Fi passwords and browser bookmarks can be backed up to Google servers.

To perform a hard reset on your Galaxy S3, follow these steps:

a. Tap Apps from the Home screen.
b. Tap Settings from the Apps tab.
c. Tap Back up and reset from the Personal section. Uncheck the option to Automatic Restore to determine if a third-party app is causing the problem.
d. Tap on Factory data reset from the Personal data section.
e. Tap on Reset device. If prompted, enter the current password or draw the pattern to unlock.
f. Tap on Delete All.

Wait for a few minutes for the hard reset and reboot to complete. After the reset, you can setup the device and see if that has fixed the problem.

Hope any of these works for you.

Another thing you need to consider is a home and work address that must be added to the address book. This is necessary for some reminder options to become available.

C. How to view or access a scheduled reminder on your iPhone?

To view or access your scheduled reminders, follow these steps:

1. Tap on Reminders from the Home screen.
2. Tap Reminders to continue.
3. Choose the Call back reminder from the given item(s). The item contains the call back number as well as the schedule set for you to call back.
4. Tap on Call to initiate a call on the selected contact.

And that should do it.

New Capture/View Screenshots on Samsung Galaxy Alpha [Beginners Guide] By Patricbensen

This article is intended for new users of Samsung Galaxy Alpha who need help in capturing and/or viewing screenshots on their new smartphone. If you are one of our subject readers, then you too may refer to this guide whenever necessary.

Just like the other prior Galaxy smartphones, the new Alpha also offers two ways of capturing screenshots. This way, you can simplify or better describe anything you want to say about the device, like a feature or function.

A. Capture Screenshots using keys

The faster way to take or capture a screenshot is using the Home and Power/Lock keys on the device.

To capture a screenshot, all you have to do is to press and hold the Home key and the Power/Lock key simultaneously. Once the screenshot is taken, it will be copied to the clipboard and stored/saved to the Screenshots folder inside the Gallery.

You can check your recently captured screenshots in that directly, and then view, transfer to, or share it with other devices.

B. Capture Screenshots using Motion Gestures

If you don't want to use the keys, your other option to capture a screenshot is using Motion Gestures.

The Galaxy Alpha supports a gesture called, palm swipe to capture screenshot. This means you can take a screenshot by a touch on the screen. Please note that you need to enable or turn this feature on before you can use Palm swipe to capture screenshot on your device.

Follow these steps to enable or turn on the Palm swipe to capture:

1. Tap Apps from the Home screen.
2. Tap on Settings.
3. Tap Motions and gestures.
4. Tap Palm swipe to capture.
5. Tap the slider to turn the feature on. When the feature is on or enabled, the slider appears GREEN, otherwise, it's OFF or disabled.

To capture a screenshot using motion gesture, touch the screen with the side of your hand and swipe across from right to left or the other way around.

Once the screenshot is taken, it will be copied to the clipboard. And by default, it will be saved to the Screenshots folder inside the Gallery.

C. View Screenshots via Notification Panel

To view all your captured screenshots, scroll to Gallery and then open the Screenshots folder. Follow these steps:

1. Swipe your finger from the top of the screen to the bottom, to open the Notification Panel.
2. Tap on Screenshot captured.
3. Tap on the screenshot you want to view.

To delete, edit and share screenshots from the Notification Panel, use your two fingers. With your two fingers slightly separated, touch Screenshots captured, and then swipe down to expand and display all options.

You can also view your screenshots anytime you want. To do so, go to the Home screen, tap Apps, tap on Gallery, and finally, tap to open Screenshots folder.

While you are viewing the screenshot, you will be prompted with the following icons at the top of the screen. You can use any of these options to edit or share a screenshot.

  • Change Player - use this icon to view your screenshot on a compatible DLNA enabled device within range.
  • Share via - use this icon to share the screenshot via Bluetooth, Email, Gmail, Messages or Wi-Fi Direct sharing.
  • Delete - use this icon to erase or delete a screenshot.
  • Camera - use this icon to open or launch the Camera application.
  • More options - represented by a three-vertical-dots icon. Touch this icon to view more options for your screenshots. Among these options are Edit, More info, Copy to Clipboard, Studio, Crop, Rename, Slideshow, Set as, Print, Move to Private, and Settings.

Options/icons available may vary depending on the applications installed and enabled features on your device.
