New Fix: Plugged in not charging laptop battery problem By Patricbensen

All lithium ion laptop batteries have fixed life span and as time passes these batteries lose their capacity to hold a charge. Recently my laptop battery died and I had to replace it with a new one. However, I noticed that the battery would only charge till 93% and sometimes not beyond 96%. Then it stops charging as if its fully charged. When I clicked on the battery meter at the bottom right taskbar (in Windows 10), it showed either 96% or 93% available (plugged in not charging). I found that many users have faced similar problem of battery not charging fully with a new laptop battery. Old laptop batteries may also face similar issue with the battery indicator showing wrong reading- for example: getting stuck on 98% and not charging.  Fortunately, there are some simple steps that can get your laptop charging to a full 100%.  Read below to find out how to fix battery indicator not showing full charge in Windows laptop:

How to fix 93% available (plugged in, not charging) laptop battery issue

  1. Shutdown your laptop
  2. Take out the battery
  3. Disconnect the power supply or charger
  4. Now press the power button and hold it for 45 seconds or 1 min
  5. Connect the power supply
  6. Now put the battery back on
After completing the above steps, turn on your computer and now check the battery meter. It should show 100% Fully Charged or at least start charging from the point where it was previously stuck. If that didn't fix the problem, disconnect power supply and remove the battery, and then leave your laptop like that for an hour. After that your laptop battery should charge like normal.
